I have been telling Cami stories of the Binky Fairy to let her know that she will be coming by soon to take away the binkies and distribute them to some needy babies. She knows that if she gives them all up the BF will leave her some toys. She has been a binky baby since the day she arrived. We gave her a binky at the hospital the first night (with some resistance from the nurses) and she's been attached ever since. I've tried poking holes in them recently and it doesn't seem to make a difference, she still loves them. I plan to do this next week so the BF has to go to the toy store and find some good loot. She is 2 1/2 and I am not even sure what toys to get her. She loves princess stuff and I saw a princess flashlight online that I hope I can find at a store. If you have any suggestions for me please share them here!

What a really good idea on how to take away the binky. My son, 15 months, uses one at bedtime. My huband is convinced we can just throw them out and that is that. Keep us updated on how it turns out.
ReplyDeleteSo precious! I have three kids. Two were binky babies and one never was. Is she still in the crib or is she in a bed? What worked for us with my oldest daughter and my youngest son was taking binky away once they started sleeping in a big girl/boy bed. We also did a lot of prepping before that happened, constantly reminding them "pretty soon you'll have to sleep in a big boy bed and there's no binky in a big bed" By the time we got to that point it was no big deal.
ReplyDelete(of course, this will do you no good if she's already in a bed!)
Just try to attach the idea of taking it away with something that makes her feel like a big girl. Does that make sense? Hope that helps
Oh, I don't have any advice for binkies....my babies never had them. Breastfed all 3 of my children and they refused to take the pacifier---even when they were teething LOL!!
ReplyDeleteI'd say if she likes Princess stuff, then you're safe with that. Good luck but I'm sure she'll be fine!

Oh my goodness, she is a Cutie Patootie! Good luck with the Binkie Fairy! I'm sure the trip to the toy store will give you lots of inspiration... bet you'll find lots of neat stuff!
ReplyDeleteShe is adorable, so sweet! Those binkies are hard to get rid of, but eventually they are not needed anymore.
ReplyDeleteShe is adorable. You are sweet to try to make the transition easy.
ReplyDeleteAll three of my kids loved their binky. I just decided they didn't need them anymore and I didn't want to mess with them. I just tossed them when they turned one year old along with the bottles. The first nap and the first night was a little tough but they got over it and now they don't remember it at all. And they still love me!! My youngest is 17.
she is adorable.
