Great News

We saw Dr. Delashaw, a neurosurgeon with OHSU today. He says that Brett does not have a colloid cyst. He said he does not know what the film shows but that it does not look like a colloid cyst would look. He had three other surgeons looking at the film and they were all scratching their heads. He also said it does not look like anything to be worried about at this point. We scheduled another scan for June 4th to see if it changes. If it does change then he would want to do surgery. If it doesn't change then they would continue to monitor it. He said that it is possible that this is something that has been there Brett's entire life and it may just be there and maybe nothing would ever have to be done to it.

Updates on Brett

I have decided to use my blog to keep friends and family udpated on Brett. He has a colloid cyst deep in his brain. This is not cancerous but it is a concern because it can cause complications or death if left untreated. Surgery is another concern and can also cause all sorts of complications. We are meeting with a neurosurgeon today at OHSU and should have more information on what will be happening. I will post updates as I know more. We appreciate your prayers and positive thoughts.

A New Baby

We got a furbaby in January. His name is Arnie and his is a 'poochon' which is a poodle and bichon mix. He is oh so adorable and lots of laughs. Cami (aka Naughty Girl) has a love/hate relationship with him. One minute she is hugging and kissing him and the next she is pulling his tail and pinching him.

Patterned Pines Holiday Mini Hostess Set

This is a hostess rewards stamp set. It is one of my current favorites! This card will be a make and take card for tomorrow night's demonstrator meeting. The colors I used are Real Red, Old Olive, and Ballet Blue.

Super Cute Halloween Cards

These are two really great Halloween cards that I have recently received. The card on the left came from a recent meeting and I believe this is a copy of a card front received as a swap at Convention. Sorry but I don't know who to give credit to for this idea. The card uses the stamp set 'Halloween Frights' and the 'Modern Label' punch was used to make the fence. The card (with the candy) on the right was created by my upline and friend Susan Rodgers and uses the Sweet Centers stamp set which is in the Holiday Mini Catalog. Shutter Card

I made this shutter card today while my daughter is in her preschool class. The most difficult part of this for me was cutting the slits. I had a hard time with my hobby blade probably because I don't use it much. I used sanding blocks to fix my choppy cutting job :). This is a cool card and great for when you don't have much to say because there isn't much room to write in it ;)!

Explosion Box Scrap Book

I wanted to show off this cute explosion box/scrapbook that I recently completed. Of course I haven't gotten around to putting photos in it or decorating the outside of the box but I still think it's cute enough to show off! I used the pop up cake die inside but instead of the three layers of the cake, I only used the top two to make it fit. This is going to be a great gift for whomever I decide gets it!

Decor Elements!

These photos are a little tricky because they are both mirrors but I wanted to show you SU's Decor Elements. These two mirrors are the first times that I used this product. I really enjoyed making these and plan to decorate a wall in our family room using some different ones that I ordered. If you like these and want to know more about them please contact me. Emerging Color

I made this to try out the technique 'emerging color.' I stamped the butterfly dots image on white cardstock (in Melon Mambo ink) and then stamped over it with the solid butterfly image in Versamark and embossed with clear embossing powder. The last step is to brayer a color on for the background color (Soft Suede ink) and take a rag and wipe the excess ink off the embossed butterflies. The butterflies, ribbon, and the scallop around the salutation have dots on them and bring the whole card together.

Circle Circus, Clean and Simple

I like this new stamp set (Circle Circus) but have had trouble figuring out how to use it. This layout is from cleanandsimplestamping.blogspot.com which is my new favorite blog. I colored the main image with the new in-color markers after embossing it with clear embossing powder.

New Toys Round 3

The card with the birds is made with a Level 2 Hostess Set called 'The More the Merrier' and the floral card was made with 'Razzle Dazzle.' I used my Scor Pal to get the grid lines on the floral image--just score the cardstock first, then brayer on a background color and then stamp the focal image.

New Toys Second Round

I had a little more time to play with the new toys tonight. The floral card uses a new stamp set called 'Razzle Dazzle' that coordinates with the 'Razzleberry Lemonaide' designer series paper. I used my new in color markers (thank you SU! for making markers for us this year!) to color the floral image. The card with the pheasant stamp was made with a stamp set called 'Autumn Days.' The colors on this card look funky in the photograph and better in real life. Check out the polka dot ribbons which are also available in all of the new colors!

First Play With My New Toys

Wow this is my second day in a row posting here! Unfortunately my stamping time is nearly zero because my daughter no longer naps since the Binky Fairy came. This means I have no 'self' time.

The above card was made with my new toys. I splurged and express shipped my new 'In Colors' and preview stamps that will be in the new catalog. The stamp set used above is called 'Circle Circus' and it is stamped on designer paper called 'Razzleberry Lemonaide.' The base of the card is Melon Mambo cardstock. By the way, my Melon Mambo stamp pad smells like cherry Koolaid! I was pleasantly surprised when I opened it. Isn't it cool how the stamp matches the little silver flower?

What's Done is Done

We made it through the night with no binky. She woke up at 11:30 and yelled for her binky and I told her we should go check and see if the Binky Fairy came. We went downstairs and found the empty basket and a bag of toys. She was very excited, especially with her princess flashlight. She ate some PEZ and played with the new books and blocks. I told her it was time to go to bed but she was so wired we ended up staying up until nearly 3 a.m. She has asked for her binky three times and each time I have told her the BF took them all. She's been okay with that and there have been no melt downs.

When I see her sleeping without her binky I feel a little sad because that is the one thing she's had her whole life. Each time she has asked for one it has really tugged on my heart. She is probably handling it better than I am :)

We spent a lot of time during the last week talking about how the Binky Fairy was coming soon. I told her this morning that today is the day and she even mentioned it to Teacher Margaret when I dropped her off at playschool this afternoon. While she was in her class I went to the toy store and got her 'BF' loot. This afternoon when we got home she told me the Binky Fairy was on the phone and so I had to take the call! I told her the 'BF' wanted to know what toys she wanted and she said "a duck, a dog, and a kitty." Unfortunately the 'BF' didn't get her any of those things but I asked her if she wanted a flashlight, and if she liked books and blocks and she excitedly answered "yes!" Phewwwww.

This evening I told her we needed to get a basket and go around and find all of the binkies so we could put them on the porch for the 'BF.' Once we had them all in the basket she had to ogle them for awhile. She had one in her mouth and refused to put it on the porch with the others. She fell asleep and I yanked that sucker out of there and got rid of all of the binkies. I left the bag of toys and an empty basket. Now I am just waiting for her to wake up but hopefully not until morning. The two pictures above are of her ogle-ing her basket of binkies one last time . . . wish me some sleep tonight please!

The Binky Fairy IS Coming

I have been telling Cami stories of the Binky Fairy to let her know that she will be coming by soon to take away the binkies and distribute them to some needy babies. She knows that if she gives them all up the BF will leave her some toys. She has been a binky baby since the day she arrived. We gave her a binky at the hospital the first night (with some resistance from the nurses) and she's been attached ever since. I've tried poking holes in them recently and it doesn't seem to make a difference, she still loves them. I plan to do this next week so the BF has to go to the toy store and find some good loot. She is 2 1/2 and I am not even sure what toys to get her. She loves princess stuff and I saw a princess flashlight online that I hope I can find at a store. If you have any suggestions for me please share them here!

Inspiration from the Idea Book & Catalog

We had a challenge for our next demonstrator meeting: pick one card from the SU Idea Book & Catalog and copy it, then make another card using the catalog card as inspiration. The yellow card is copied from the Idea Book & Catalog and the green card is my inspiration card. This is a great idea because I always forget to use my catalog for the ideas!! I will get more of these at the meeting and I will post some more later.

Mini Brag Book

I made this mini brag book with a CD Mailer and covered it with Raspberry Tart Designer Series Paper. Inside of the book there is a hidden pocket on the left and an insert pocket on the right. The album is about 5 inches square. I plan to schedule a class for this soon . . . email me if you are interested!

Inking Texture Plates

This is my first try at this technique. I brayered Chocolate Chip ink onto the texture plate and then ran Kraft cardstock through the Big Shot. I also cut the flowers and buttons on the Big Shot and then randomly layered them on. Check out the new 'Grommet' hardware on this card. These have prongs on the back and you poke them through the cardstock. They will be available in the new Occasions Mini Catalog on April 1st.

This has nothing to do with stamping but I took pictures of Cami this morning posing in her church dress. Every time she gets a dress on she runs to go show Daddy how 'pretty' she looks. I remember spinning around in circles when I was wearing a dress as a little girl.

Yummy Hostess Only Stamps

This card uses two level one hostess stamp sets that go with each other perfectly. One is called 'Darling Dots' and the other is 'Sweet Little Sentiments'. Both are all occasion sets, one has images and the other sentiments. I love the color combination on this card--it comes from the Candy Lane Designer Series Paper. The colors are Close to Cocoa, Pink Pirhouette, Ridinghood Red and Very Vanilla with a hint of Chocolate Chip. This is a card we will be making at my Customer Appreciation/Mystery Hostess evening on April 2nd. If you come you can get into the drawing for the hostess benefits and you may be able to get one (or both) of these stamp sets!

Corduroy Buttons

I used a Chocolate Chip Corduroy Button to embellish this card. I really really love these buttons. The small and large size are like brads on the back so you just poke them through the card. The one like I used with the holes can be embellished with linen thread and mounted with a glue dot. These are the best buttons!

Gotta Love the Big Shot (and other new stuff)

This gift tag was made with the Top Note die and the new Manhattan Flower Textured Impressions die. To get this look I ran Bella Rose Designer Series Paper through the Big Shot using the Manhattan Flower die and then I ran a sanding block over the top of the embossed edges to make them white. The upcoming Occasions Mini Catalog has the Scallop Oval punch and the stamp set that fits it called 'Oval All'.

This card was made with the Beautiful Butterflies die and the glitter was adhered using Sticky Pages which were stuck to the 'Bella Birds' Designer Series Paper and then run through the Big Shot. I covered the sticky page with Dazzling Diamonds Glitter. This card also shows how pretty the Eyelet Border punch is. The upcoming Occasions Mini Catalog has the Scallop Oval punch and a new stamp set to fit it called 'Oval All'.

My Hideaway

This is (part of) my stamping room. The first picture is of my desk and the second is of the back of the door showing how my punches are stored. I used to be very neat and organized but over the years have become a little more messy. This is why there isn't a picture of the area where my stamps are stored or where my other desk is :). The room is the smallest bedroom in our home and I have really outgrown it.

New Designer Series Paper "Good Morning Sunshine"

This card uses the 'Good Morning Sunshine' paper. This stamp set is called 'Cheers to You.' This was my shot at making a masculine card without buying any new masculine stamp sets. Beer is pretty manly don't you think?
